Welcome to the webpage of the project “Recognizing Christianity: How African Immigrants Redefine the European Religious Heritage”, an international research project funded by NORFACE. Comprising three European partners (Portugal, UK, Netherlands) and an interdisciplinary group (anthropology, theology, sociology), this project intends to assess the importance of African migrant communities in contemporary European Christianity.

2007-2010

   News
 September 2008: Ramon Sarró, Fátima Viegas and Ruy Blanes recently published an article in Politique Africaine (volume 110) based on their recent research in Luanda, Angola. More information in the journal’s webpage.
 September 2008: The NORFACE ‘Re-emergence of Religion as a Social Force in Europe’ Programme has now it’s own website. See it here.
August 2008: Senior members of the project Ramon Sarró (Principal Investigator) and Simon Coleman will be convening a workshop in the forthcoming EASA Biennial Conference, to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The workshop is called African Christianities in Europe: The Politics of Religious Recognition. More information on the conference website.
